February News
January flew by and we learned a lot, especially about snow! We talked about animals and learned what kind of animals Noah took on the ark and how the ark moved on the “blue” water. We continued to work on learning our letters and letter sounds. Ask your child what sound a J makes and see if they make jellyfish. We made snow, played in snow and read stories about snow. We counted to 6 and learned about rectangles. We did a lot in three weeks! Due to the snow we have 3 days of school to make up and we will be adding 3 Monday-Make up days on March 26th, April 2nd and April 9th. We will have a normal school day starting at 9am and ending at 11:30am.
This month will be a short month for us due to Mid-Winter Break. We will not have class on February 21, 22 and 23. We will still be learning as much as we can about Love and Friendship through Valentine’s Day. We will have a Valentine’s party on February 14th. Your child is welcome to bring valentines to school; all we ask is that they bring enough for everyone. See the back of this letter for details. We will also learn about Fire Safety, the letters K, L, and M, the number 7, the colors pink and purple and of course heart shapes. We will continue to talk about animals, but transition in to our Community Helpers unit. If you know of someone that is a Community Helper, we would love to have them come in and talk with us.
Also, we are working on some very important Kindergarten skills! As a class we are continuing to work on listening and following instructions and working together. We are also encouraging the kids to work on their own conflict resolutions and they are learning about natural consequences. We feel these are important skills that will lead to independent learning that will in then end lead to strong Kindergartners.
Our field trip this month is to the Shoreline Safety Center. The kids will have the opportunity to play at a fire station and dress up like fire fighters. We will be visiting The Fire Safety Center on Wednesday, February 29th at 10am. Parents need to bring their children or arrange for other transportation.
Happy February!

Preschool Valentine’s Day
Our Valentine’s Day Party will be Thursday, February 10th. Your child is welcome to deliver Valentines to class on February 14th. We ask that you send enough valentines for each student (12). To make it easier on us and the kids, there is no need to write who the card is “To”, but please write who the card is from, or better yet have your child write their name on their cards. They can all do it! This will make our party a super special day!
